The Silver Eye - Orange

EDIT: Ever since I did this, it bugged me how flat Apen's face was, and also how it was a kind of awkward mesh of my comic style and realism, so I did a fast paint over it to make it more three-dimensional. You can see before-after here! I didn't quite get the same expression in the end. I'd like to know what you think, does it look better?

Sometimes when I begin coloring a painting I just dive in with something like, "I want warmish colors" in mind, but other times like here I actually pick individual colors to work with and right now I'm really liking the results from this method more. Apen could be smiling at something off screen, or staring lovingly at his telescope. Either is plausible.
